Better explain things first. The Starlings are Gordon, (me), Anita, my (now ex) wife, and our two children, Andrew (aged 8) and Lauren (aged 6). We have always planned that we would go to DisneyWorld when we felt the kids were old enough. Well they are now!! We booked our holiday about 18 months ago, and we were going with our friends Russell and Brigitte. It seemed like such a long time away, but here we are, now back in the UK. I decided to write this down before it becomes just a few memories.
About one year away there was a change of plan: we were to be joined on our holiday by Joy Hurlock, Russell's sister, and her boyfriend, Chris. The more the merrier I thought (well Chris enjoys a drink - the same as I do.) (Drink - merrier- know what I mean!) We decided to book our Disney Parkhopper Tickets before we left, and we ordered them. However the agency that was supplying them sent them to the wrong address, and they were returned to the agency. (We found this out subsequently) They were a recorded delivery item. Fortunately Anita knows the postman very well. He had been off, but there had been talk in the sorting office of these tickets being returned. When Anita mentioned to him that we were expecting a special delivery he put two and two together and advised her that they had been returned. She immediately rang the agency, which got them turned around and delivered to us the very next day. Well done Keith Prowse Belfast! (And also well done Bert - the postman!).
And so with no further meandering let's get onto the holiday - the day of departure. Oh one further thing that perhaps I should mention - the week of our departure the news was filled with a small hurricane in the Florida Area called Georges - but more of that later.
