I would say there's no surprise when I wake up alone again – but that would be a lie – Mr Snorry Head again making his unwelcome, but apparently regular presence felt – or rather the decibels being felt by someone's eardrums! I thought just Pat, and I had come away on holiday – but obviously, it was a threesome! 😉
Once both of us are awake, its teas and coffees all round – well apart from Mr SH who is nowhere to be seen (shouldn't that be heard? – ED)
As we slowly get ourselves together – it becomes obvious to us both that yesterday whilst a really good day has taken a bit of a toll. The driving added to the intensity of the day has somewhat drained the old batteries again – not that it appears to take much!
Looking out of the window and it's a bit overcast, the sun is trying to break out – but the level of cloud is heavy for this time of the morning. After quick showers, we again look out and we decide a day by the pool is probably the most perfect solution to the day but we will risk it and not put crème on.
As we enter the lift there is already a people in there – who look a bit shocked as they had entered the lift on the floor below – only to come up to us, expecting to go down poolside. We all manage to fit in, although the kids are looking a touch wary of the wheelchair. The mum is very chatty – and the journey although very quick – it is only two floors after all, is quite entertaining. They even hold the door for us, and we open the gate into the pool area for them.
After about an hour or two of the usual chilling (more so because of the cloud – ha ha) by reading and swimming and the odd drink, it becomes apparent that we need some proper sustenance, so it is back to the room for the usual lunch – bacon sarnies do so really hit the spot! Once consumed and the couple of cups of hot liquids imbibed, we begin the journey back down poolside.
We enter the lift, press the button for down and the lift shakes and begins the descent – only to stop on the floor beneath. Who gets in – yes, the lovely lady from earlier! She is even more chatty and friendly than before – introducing herself as Maria, and asking about our holiday and more importantly about the timeshare, as she is thinking about getting the family one. Whilst I don't try and oversell it – I am not as scathing as I could be. I guess we stand and chat for about 10 minutes before she heads off to find the family who are somewhere near the pool (which truthfully is quite large so she might have a bit of a journey to find them – ED).
An afternoon of sunning – ok being out with an overcast sky – actually turns into somewhat of a warming experience – well as we begin to think about going back to the apartment – it becomes quite obvious that both of us have got quite a lot of sun. Truthfully it had not really come out of hiding from the shadow of the clouds, but we are both red – in my case very red.
Just to add insult to injury (Really? – ED) it starts to rain. The drops coming down are making somewhat tender red skin hurt! I so want to talk about a gentle Tonto – after all he is a tender red-skin – ha ha ha – sorry not very PC! (OK bang goes the film rights! – ED)
As the rain falls harder and harder – and the sky darkens, we get up to leave, at which point the loudspeaker system kicks in with "please clear the pool area as we have been advised a storm is on its way". As we are up and moving we make it quite quickly into the lift lobby, to witness the heavens really open! Nice to be indoors – not too wet for the air-conditioning to make it uncomfortable, and to watch the others diving for cover! Hey just call me evil! (you are evil – just doing as I am told – ha ha – ED))
So, it's back to the apartment and boy am I famished – so dinner goes on – but we need to have showers. Once out and sufficiently covered in after sun – (can you be sufficiently covered? – ED) we sit down to a wonderful meal of pizza and chips for me, and ham and salad for Pat – using up a lot of the excess that we had got earlier in the holiday!
Tea and coke and a quick sit on the balcony again watching the storm's fireworks (aka the lightning) and a single episode of Penny Dreadful – and yes you guessed time for sleep!
