Diving and chilling – oh and the BBC! - 16 February 2008

PuriSantrian - looking around

We have to wake early – 6.30 ish - well actually Anita and Andrew do – but I wake as well. They get the stuff together and off they head – as I lay on the bed and begin to read my book. I get so caught up in it I don't realise the time – and then there is a knock on my door. Its Lauren – asking if I want to go for breakfast – even though its already 10 o'clock and the restaurant is now closed

I say no – and off she goes – so I leisurely have a shower – and then read some more on the balcony. I finally make my way down to the pool at just before 12 – to find everyone who is not diving chilling out, and enjoying themselves. Nanny and Granddad have been for a walk down to the marshes – yes the ones we had seen last night, to see if they could find any birds (feathered ones I might add!). Nanny starts talking with a guy they met there – who is fishing! – both of Granddad's main hobbies in one fowl (ouch – sorry!) swoop. They did manage to find a few – and the fisherman showed Nanny his catch – at least I think that's what she said.

The divers turn up at about 2 – but it has not been too good a day for them – and their meals that they were to have on board were not all that – and they have brought them back with them. When one is opened it does not look too appetising.. Most of the divers couldn't be bothered with it – but as it was about to be binned one of the pool boys comes over and asks if he and his mates can have it. It's better to recycle (ohh wonder where I've heard that) so they go away taking the meals with them – looking rather like the cat that has found the cream!

Whatever!

Whatever!

Andy is really pissed off over his buddy – who takes no notice of him , and just went wherever he bloody well wanted to go to. Meaning that Andy could have died. This is not the first (or last - come to think of it!) time that Roger proves what an arse he is! (this section might have to be edited if this goes to the club-house! – or then again maybe not – he might find out what I really think about him. – oh more to follow!)

Anita is happy, as she dived in a threesome with Su and Mandy (so two of the three witches were together – with a helping hand from a witch in waiting!) Hehe. Anita seems very happy – and soon we are partaking of a few drinks by the bar - as the kids continue to lark about.

It is a fantastic afternoon – the sun is shining and everyone is chilling – so much so that even Granddad and I get in the pool. Well to tell the truth it was so warm you had to - to cool off. Again we have taken over the bar area, the staff seem to know us now – and there is no problem about this from them.

Unfortunately a couple of Germans decide to have a go at one of the junior members of the team – Carole – saying that we take over everything and are far too noisy! Bloody cheek – who was it that stopped the krauts taking over the world! When Carole tells us – a few of us want to go and find them and give them a piece of our minds – but reason sets in – and we just laugh it off! Carole actually did very well – giving as good as she got in the verbal battle! Guess she is very much like her mother! Her mum being one of the three witches – who is currently on her broomstick on the way to join us. (I so know that I am going to be in soooo much trouble for that comment!)

While all the adults are chilling – the kids go off and do some canoeing – coming back a hour later with loads of stories – which this idiot forgot to write down.. Oh well. Mind you perhaps after they have read this they might give me an idea of what happened – and I can create a director's cut of this epic.

So evening begins to arrive – and everyone decided to go and see if we can find the Griya Santrium again, but heading in the opposite direction up the beach. Seemed like a good idea – so we all dive off (ouch!) and have showers and quick changes and meet back in the bar. When everyone has finished their drinks (yes it takes a while again) we head off up the beach.

Again we walk and walk – and again no hotel with wonderful Italian – so we settle on the BBC! No not the British Broadcasting Corporation, but the Bali Beach Club! Well another great meal – and very cheap. I personally decided to go local so had the Mother Beach Burger (yeah I know – not really native – but hey!). It consisted of a double burger with cheese and two eggs and bacon – all in the bun – and fries. All for less than a pound! The whole meal for all of us – 14 I think went out – at less than a fiver a head with drinks included!

A slow walk back to the hotel, allowing the food to get a little less heavy on the old tum, and back to . yes you guessed it - the bar. On the walk back it was decided by the kids that they would go clubbing. Bali has a fantastic nightlife – based around Kuta – which is only about 10 miles up the road When I say kids – it was decided that Tamsin and Ben would not go – but Andy, Lauren, Dale, Carole, "Big" Matt, and "Little" Matt would go. "Little" Matt was just about 14 – but Andy promised to look after him – provided his mum would let him go. Mandy reluctantly relented – and they got in the cab and went off – promising to be back by midnight.

Come 10 o'clock Ben was shattered so went back to the room – while we all sat around the bar just chilling- and pulling Mandy's leg a little. She was getting more and more wound up – and worried about Matt. Well a 14 year old boy out and about in a strange place any thing could happen We could tell she was like a very tight spring – as the evening wore on. Again comments were passed over us taking over the bar – but we didn't care.

At 11.45 – the kids returned – and the relief flooded over Mandy. And then we got the full story of what had happened in their little adventure.

Andy and a 'drinking cup'!

Andy and a 'drinking cup'!

Well it seems that they had got the cab and gone into Kuta, and really just bar-hopped. Matt had tried a couple of drinks – but wasn't really that bothered about any. In one of the bars they went into they had a few cocktails – in very naughty shaped glasses (well receptacles would probably be a better name). They also were in a pole dancing club! After a couple of hours of this and to make sure that they were back before the time they had said they would be – they grabbed another cab and came home (well back to the hotel).

We sat around the bar for a while longer – and then most of us went to bed – because tomorrow was our day out.
