Chilling around the pool - 22 February 2008

Bali map showing whereabouts for the day

We wake reasonably early – the sun shining through into the room. We both read for a while, not wanting to get up. It is a great feeling – we have nothing to do today – no plans made, but I think after last night's fun we will probably just chill. Anita could have gone diving – today is the last day that there will be diving available but she has already decided she will just chill.

I am now on my third book of the holiday – just goes to show much reading I am doing. Its very tiring reading – honest guv!

Breakfast is taken in the restaurant, a couple of glasses of juice and a coffee – and I'm set for the day. We move down to the pool area, and take up the position and begin the hard task of relaxing. More reading and sitting and chatting occurs – but to a certain extent Anita is getting bored with the "lazy" day. She does not seem to settle much – so much so that by about 11 she is like a cat on a hot tin roof. She needs to go and do something else. She decides to go for a longer walk and do a bit of shopping in the area along the road that the hotel is in – only a bit further on. Lauren volunteers to go with her, and they are away for a couple of hours.

The divers return just after lunchtime, but it will be a couple of hours yet before the girls get back.

I continue to sit and read, and consume the odd drink or five, and the ladies return with all their goods, which are viewed and reviewed by all present. Seems they went into a great department store – only each department was a different shop really! Had a great time wandering round and browsing.

It is decided by the witches etc that they are going to make use of the spa, so go off and return a little while later – having made appointments for a touch later. It is once again decided that dinner will be had at the hotel, after the ladies have had their treatments.

We are all in the pool, enjoying the water, all apart from Mandy who is sitting on a beach chair reading. Little Matt asks his mum for a towel, so she gets up picks up the towels, climbs into the pool, and walks toward us. She had obviously forgotten that the pool floor is not always flat, in fact there is a deep bit just about where she is walking. She slips slightly, and immediately her arms go up- carrying he towels away from the onrushing water of the pool. She some how manages to regain her footing and the towels remain dry, although Anita and I are laughing so much we are almost crying!

They go, and almost an hour goes by until their return where they are all looking very refreshed, and glowing – which is fortunate, as it has got very dark – hehe. Seems they all got to wear paper nix – although Anita managed to rip hers with her feet!

We sit in the beach part of the restaurant, one table consisting of the grown ups, and one for the kids. The kids have really got on well this holiday, in fact everyone has with a couple of exceptions! The kids quickly attack their food and they are finished long long before us. The older ones again decide to go clubbing, although this time little Matt decides to remain with us, much to Mandy's relief.

We again retire to the bar area, where more talk occurs, including the girls deciding to repeat the spa trip on Sunday – so that they can be more relaxed just as we begin our journey home. We decide to head for bed relatively early – as another big day tomorrow – with the elephants and our night out!
